"And books, they offer one hope — that a whole universe might open up from between the covers, and falling into that universe, one is saved."

‘Lestat’ Anne Rice, Blackwood Farm (via fuckyeahannerice)

(And this is exactly what her books have done for me.)

from The Painted Drum by Louise Erdrich

I’m saving this because this is something that I find to be an absolute truth. “Life will break you.”  You can let it destroy you or let it make you better.

Meeting My Hero, Anne Rice

For those that somehow don’t know I got to meet Anne Rice about two weeks ago. It was an absolutely wonderful experience that I’m so grateful to have had! To make it even better I got to write a piece on my experience at the signing! Follow the link to check it out and while you’re there check out the other great things at momsbasement.org!

I adore Dan’s Dollar Bookstore here in San Marcos because every time I go there is an Anne Rice book I don’t have (I want them all in hard cover) waiting for me. To make it better they are all first editions.

Admont Abbey Library, Admont Benedictine Monastery, Austria. Since its foundation in 1074, i.e. since almost one thousand years, Admont Benedictine Monastery has collected and preserved cultural goods. In this respect the library has a special position. This library is one of the most important cultural properties of Austria and is one of the largest late Baroque works of art in Europe. Perhaps a little overenthusiastically but at the same quite justifiably, since the early 19th century the Admont library has been called the “eighth wonder of the world”. "Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book."

John Green, The Fault in Our Stars (via bookmania)

I’ve felt this way numerous time.
