No, there is not a documented epidemic of brutal murders of fat people for being fat, but there is a documented epidemic of failure to provide life-saving healthcare: Google will easily help you find stories of fat people who died while emergency crews laughed at their weight and appearance, of fat people who were told they should lose weight to fix problems actually caused by blood clots, cancer, internal injuries, infections, and myriad other problems that later killed them, because their doctors couldn’t see past their fat to properly treat them. Google will also easily help you find stories of medical equipment that cannot accommodate fat bodies, of anesthetists who accidentally kill fat people in surgery, of doctors who prescribe wrong doses for fat bodies, of drug trials that make no attempt to include fat patients. Google will also easily help you find stories of fat people who did not seek life-saving healthcare because they had been so viciously fat-shamed by doctors their whole lives that they had given up hope of finding sensitive and caring providers who would treat them.

Fat people die because of fat hatred ALL THE TIME.

BIG KHLOE NEWS!
I just learned yesterday that KHLOE is switching things up a bit. We are going to be moving toward an online ezine (according to my editor, “think Huffington Post meets Seventeen.com meets Hercampus.com”) which means frequent updates and more accessible content, because it will be free to view!
This news makes me incredibly giddy. Since I started writing for KHLOE I was secretly hoping for something like this because I felt that it would help us reach our target audience and ultimately help start changes in women’s media.
I will keep you all updated in the coming weeks. Until then enjoy the March issue of KHLOE Magazine for free featuring an article (by yours truly) all about plus size swimwear!

Reblogged from wishalittle :

Actually I can think of countless things that taste SO much better than starving myself or making myself miserable in the attempt to reach some unattainable goal of what society tells us is beautiful.
Happiness, true happiness, that stems from loving the woman that I am and let me tell you it tastes better than anything on this earth.
The truth is that nothing feels as good as loving me for who I am. The flaws, the scars (both emotional and physical), the extra pounds, the frizzy hair, the oily skin, the small boobs, it all combines in a beautiful way to form me. I am an imperfect person in every way imaginable; but so is the girl that has the ‘perfect’ figure.
This idea that skinny is the goal; that skinny is perfection; that if you are skinny you will finally love yourself and that other people will love you is unfortunately a big lie. If you can’t like yourself at whatever size you are now you will never find satisfaction no matter your size; this is because when you lose that 20 pounds or 50 pounds you will feel that you need to lose more and more and more in order to be ‘pretty’ and skinny.
The scathing truth of it all is that due to the way that our society functions you will neverbe good enough. All that you have to do is look at the rag magazines the next time that you check out at any store; one day so-and-so is way too thin and disgusting, the next she is a fat cow; there is no winning this battle unless you STOP FIGHTING IT.
We did not sign up to be drafted into an army against ourselves when we got our drivers licenses, there is no “Woman Handbook” that states that if you are above a size 2 you are simply unacceptable, all of these things that say that we are less than because we aren’t the “ideal woman” are things that we just accept. My question is why?
Why do we accept so readily that we aren’t good enough; yet we deny and vehemently fight against the idea that just maybe we are enough, that just maybe we are beautiful and perfect just the way we are? This needs to be switched around.
I am not saying that there is anything wrong with wanting to lose weight, especially for health reasons, but when you are seeking to lose weight to increase your self-worth you need to reevaluate your reasons.
To close out this rant I propose a revolutionary idea; instead of posting this on your mirror or chanting it to yourself as you stare venomously at that piece of cake post this/chant this throughout the day:
I am a beautiful strong woman. Nothing anyone can say changes that.
