Basically sums up the mantra I had to tell myself while listening to one of my coworkers express her disgust toward someone liking a fat body (in a sexual way). I know that there was no intent to insult me, no intent to make me cringe, and I doubt she thought a thing about her fat coworker 10 feet away. But it made me grind my teeth. I so wanted to be like, “Hey guys, resident fat girl speaking, some people actually dig fat bodies. Just saying,” but I didn’t. I didn’t know how to say that without making this big awkward thing. In retrospect I realize that there is no way to not make that awkward and that I need just start making people awkward sometimes.
I can smile a bit because hearing that wasn’t a blow to my self esteem, it didn’t make me want to run away and hide, it made me angry. I’m proud of that anger because it tells me that I really am at peace with my body. And while I know that it isn’t everyone’s cup of tea you will respect me (things regarding me and relating to me) just as I respect you or I will call you on your bullshit from now on.

Reblogged from fuckyeahgameofthrones :

It’s a uniquely American prudishness. You can write the most detailed, vivid description of an axe entering a skull, and nobody will say a word in protest. But if you write a similarly detailed description of a penis entering a vagina, you get letters from people saying they’ll never read you again. What the hell? Penises entering vaginas bring a lot more joy into the world than axes entering skulls. - George R. R. Martin

AMEN! And may I also add that I just do not get it why are my fellow Americans so anti sex but violence is totally ok?

Seeing as I’m about to embark on a day full of shopping this seemed very appropriate. Also, if you haven’t read Big Big Love: A Sex and Relationships Guide for People of Size (and Those Who Love Them) follow the link and buy a copy. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Food for thought.

Really? Are you people Serious? One is a terrorist, the other a strongly religious man. No I do not agree with his ideas and options but to post something so… so idiotic. There is a fucking difference, stop hating on Christianity and complaining about them being ‘bigoted’ and ‘narrow minded’ if you’re going to be so stupid as to post something like this.

That didn’t take long, I knew there would be someone who would reply like this.
Stupid, huh?
You realize that while bin Laden was a terrorist to us, he was a devoutly religious man and believed that religion should rule over secular law. He was a hero to many on “his side”
What is so “stupid” about drawing a parallel. What’s “stupid” is jumping to an immediate conclusion without looking at the point the picture is making.
It doesn’t say that Rick Santorum is the same as bin Laden, it says that he holds the same belief that religion should rule over secular law.
This basically a reminder that this is always dangerous, even within Christianity there are disagreements about how to interpret the bible, what morals to follow and how. Christianity is terribly splintered.
Rick Santorum not only wants to push religious beliefs into law, he wants to push his particular brand of religious beliefs. Listen to his statements about sexuality and contraception.
Not everyone is the same religion as him, hell, not everyone is the same kind of Christian he is. A lot of people don’t hold these same beliefs about sex.
He’s not just a “deeply religious person”. He doesn’t believe contraception should be used. He doesn’t believe people should have sex unless it’s for procreation. He wants to outlaw abortion. Add to this his disgusting position on gays and gay rights.
Of course someone who doesn’t step back and think about the implications of outlawing contraceptives, or even making them difficult to obtain is going to think this comparison was stupid.
What if the rest of the US had restrictive abortion laws that many conservative states have or are trying to have pushed through.
Anyone who doesn’t see how his stance on these things are downright un-american and dangerous is being extremely narrow minded and not looking at this from all angles.
While the man isn’t a terrorist, some of his pro-life supporters sure as hell don’t see a problem with what amounts to terrorist acts on abortion providers and the gay community.
The man is an extremist. His views on contraception and sex are extreme views he would like to see everyone else follow, that if he had his way, everyone else would be forced to follow.
