Red lips = INSTA-SEXY (how to)

I LOVE red lips. I hateconstantly reapplying lipstick which is a necessary evil when wearing it, especially red. Then I discovered the wonder of Revlon ColorStay Liquid Lipstick.
I know that there are a lot of other lipsticks out there that claim long wear, blah blah blah; I have tried a many and this is the only one that I’ve found that I practically have to take a piece of sandpaper to my lips to get rid of (to me this is a wonderful thing).
The only real down side to this lipstick is that it is very unforgiving. Mess up once and you will spend forever trying to correct it and even then you still may have a shadow of red where you don’t want it. Don’t let that scare you off!!! There is a way to get vampy red lips that last all day with minimum casualties:

• First off don’t use the applicator that is in the lipstick. The only way to get a perfect line with this is if you have the steady hand of a surgeon and a whole lot of luck; I think that it’s safe to assume that most of us have neither. I suggest using a small stiff makeup brush, I personally enjoy ELF’s (eyeslipsface.com) Studio Smudge brush, also a brush specifically for lips works just fine.
• Second, line! Lining your lips in some way is necessary to get really great coverage, especially if you are dealing with long wear lipstick; you can either use a lip liner or stain or be lazy like me and use the lipstick itself. Just take the tip of your brush and carefully line the shape of your lips; be sure that you don’t load the brush with too much product just a little goes a long way and helps to minimise the risk of foul ups.
• Then use the flat or thicker side of your brush and load it with a bit more than you did to line and start to fill in your lips. I typically start at one corner of my bottom lip and work my way from there using light even strokes. Once you’ve finished one lip move onto the other.
• Do not rub your lips together! This is a good rule to follow for all liquid lipsticks but especially long wear ones. Long wear lipsticks tend to have a paint-like quality because they need to dry if you rub your lips together before the coat has dried then you’re going to get splotchy lips, and there are few ways to come back from that without wasting a lot of time.
• Once your done see if you want it a little darker or if you want to even it out and put a little more on. Your lips may feel a little like they are dry but that’s just because the lipstick is thicker then your typical lipstick. The ColorStay never fully dries out or flakes off which is great, it always has a moist slightly tacky feel.
• Just a few more tips:
     -I learned from experience to never put anything (gloss, chapstick, anything) on top of this, or any other, long wear lipstick. It is made to work solo and solo only.
     -Makeup remover is just about the only way to get rid of this without a lot of effort. Oddly enough facial moisturizer is a close second.
     -Another good thing to note is to make sure your lips are dry and free of any gloss or chapstick.

Red lipstick is classic. Most people look good in it they are just too scared to try it. Hopefully you’ll give this a shot since once you put it on you don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the day.
